“Golden” Year For Trowan Highland Ponies

2010 has been a Golden year for Trowan Highland Ponies. At the Royal Highland Show history was made when yellow dun full siblings Trowan Madonna and Trowan Moulin won in hand and ridden championships respectively, a unique achievement.

Moulin's triumph also matched the record of three ridden championships at this prestigious show: he was also champion in 2007 & 08 where he went on to win the Silver Medal Rosette as Champion over all ridden native ponies on both occasions. He is a previous Breed Show supreme champion, has been placed at HOYS and Olympia where he also won Best of Breed, the fourth Trowan pony to do so.He and Madonna are produced and shown by Rose Macpherson who helps run the Trowan Stud along with her mother Mary McCall Smith.

The season’s success continued at Blair Castle where Moulin claimed the Ridden Highland Pony Championship for the second time, another unique achievement and making two championships from two appearances with Rose this season.

“I love riding Mouli, he is like having a fun toy to play with! The judges always comment on how much they enjoy riding him as he is very well balanced and responsive. I have had him since I broke him in so we know each other really well. He likes going to “parties” and when we are in the ring we are a team.He loves his job and I love showing him off!” Rose Macpherson

Team Trowan would very much like to thank Tornado for their generous sponsorship and for providing top class fencing - namely the Premiem Horse Fence and White Lightning electric wire which help to ensure the ponies are kept both safe and secure.
