Demand for free-range chicken and eggs is at an all-time high following recent high-profile campaigns by Jamie Oliver and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, with some retailers now only selling free-range products. This, combined with a planned EU ban on battery and caged hens by 2012, has led to a change in poultry farming practice. In the past, free-range poultry farmers found it difficult to find suitable fencing, but now, following work with a free-range egg producer, Tornado is pleased to offer a solution.

Tornado Poultry Fencing fulfils very specific requirements. It keeps chickens in and prevents them burrowing under the netting whilst effectively deterring predators. Importantly, it achieves this while remaining cost-effective. Manufactured from 2mm Hi-Tensile Plus® wire, its spring-like properties enable the fence to flex under pressure but remain secure. 75mm vertical wires keep the birds safe from harm.

Tornado Poultry Fencing would normally be erected with approximately 330mm turned out, giving a finished fence height of 1250mm. It can be used in conjunction with an off-set electric wire.
