I cannot view the corporate video, how do I get it to work? The video on this website has been converted into a Flash file, as this offers certain advantages, and although we test all our website services thoroughly we have found with constant computer updates some services do not work and require updating. If you can not view the corporate video you may need to install Adobe Flash Player 10 How far apart should my posts be?Post spacing depends on the ground conditions and pressure on the fence. As a general rule we would recommend post spacings of approximately 5 metres for High Tensile and 3 metres for Mild steel. Straining posts should be positioned at a maximum of 200 metres or at any major change in direction. What’s the difference between high tensile and mild steel?Mild steel wire (standard steel), when pulled, stretches in two stages. The first is the elastic stage, when if the load is removed, the wire springs back to its original length. If pulled further, into the second or plastic stage, the wire elongates but does not spring back when the load is removed. The change from elastic to plastic is known as the yield point. What’s the difference between Light High Tensile (LHT), Medium High Tensile (MHT) and High Tensile (HT)?The difference between these products is the diameter of the wire used to manufacture them. LHT is manufactured using 2.00mm, MHT using 2.24mm and HT using 2.50mm wire. Where are your products made?Tornado manufactures its wire fencing products at its factory in Millom, Cumbria. Do you do bigger rolls?Tornado manufacture Contractor rolls as follows: What fencing would you recommend for my dog?A small mesh size is required when fencing dogs, although this can vary depending on the breed of dog. For most breeds an 80mm mesh would be suitable. Do you sell green fencing?Tornado does not sell green polymer coated fencing. Tornado products exceed European standards for tensile strength and galvanising and are galvanised to BS EN 10244 to ensure maximum longevity. What specifications are your wire products manufactured to?Tornado products are manufactured in accordance with BS EN 10223. In additionTornado conduct no fewer than 14 test and inspections on its wire products to ensure their quality. How long will my wire last? The period a fence will last is greatly dependant on the location in which it is installed. For example, fences installed in coastal areas and high saline environments will not last as long as those in low saline rural areas. How much tension should I apply to the fence?High tensile wire performs better when strained tight. Tornado manufactures its high tensile products with large crimps to aid in the tensioning of the fence. Do you guarantee your products? It isn't possible to permanently identify each roll of fencing throughout its life, and therefore a guarantee is difficult to validate. In addition, the life of galvanised wire fencing products is greatly affected by the atmospheric conditions in which the fencing is installed. It is for this reason that some of the guarantees offered in the industry are limited to C1,C2 and C3 conditions of ISO standard 9223, i.e. only fences installed indoors or in mildly saline environments are covered by such guarantees. If I just need a part roll of fencing to finish off, do you supply these? We do not manufacture short rolls as standard. On occasion when we change the production from one product to another we may have residual wire (part rolls) available. Let us know what you need and we will endeavour to source it for you. Can I buy the products direct from you?As a manufacturer Tornado sell its products through a network of trusted stockists and partners who are able to supply products locally and quickly. If you need help sourcing a stockist in your area or are interested in becoming a stockist please get in touch here.
